Your first live
3D experience.
Start watching, set up a broadcast, and find your way around. This guide is public; the viewer and studio require your test access password.
01 / Watch a stream
- Sign in to VRCaster with the password supplied by your test coordinator.
- In Discover, choose a live broadcaster from the list. If the list is empty, ask a broadcaster to start a stream.
- Use the viewer's zoom and audio controls. If stereo depth looks reversed, try Swap eyes.
- For immersive viewing, open VRCaster in a compatible headset browser and select Enter VR. Approve the browser prompt.
- In VR, point at a channel and squeeze the controller trigger. Use the thumbstick to zoom and the LOBBY panel to choose another stream.
Stereo video adds depth. It does not let you walk around the captured scene. Start at a comfortable zoom level and take a break if viewing feels uncomfortable.
02 / Go live
- Open Broadcast studio after signing in.
- Connect your camera and choose a capture source. Allow camera and microphone access when prompted.
- Choose the format that matches your camera output, then check the local preview.
- Enter your broadcaster name and stream title, then select Start broadcast.
- Keep the studio visible and the device awake. Select End broadcast when finished. Leave the studio or change the source to release the camera preview.
Using a headset camera
In the studio's Quest capture mode, select Scan Quest cameras, grant permission, and select an available physical camera. Choose Enable camera and check for a moving preview before broadcasting. Camera availability depends on the device and browser. Physical-headset capture has not yet been verified for this pilot.
Single-camera capture is 2D. Pairing two cameras is experimental and requires two distinct cameras with matching dimensions; it does not produce stitched VR180 footage. If pairing fails, use a single camera or an external stereo camera.
03 / Choose the right format
Flat 2D
For an ordinary webcam or a single headset camera. Both eyes see the same image.
Side-by-side stereo
For a source that already supplies two views in one frame: left eye on the left, right eye on the right. Selecting stereo does not turn an ordinary camera into a 3D camera.
VR180 side-by-side
For an already stitched, equirectangular VR180 source with a 180-degree view for each eye. Raw fisheye footage needs processing before it reaches VRCaster.
Calibration source
A synthetic test pattern for checking transport and left/right eye order. It is not a live camera.
04 / Need a hand?
I do not have an access password
Ask your test coordinator for the UAT password. There is no account registration or password recovery in this pilot.
My camera is unavailable or the preview is black
Check the browser's camera permission, close other apps using the camera, and select the source again. Keep the studio visible. If no physical headset camera is listed, use an external camera.
The broadcaster appears, but video does not connect
Confirm the broadcaster still has a moving preview and an active broadcast. Retry on the same network first. Cross-network relay connectivity has not yet been verified for this pilot.
The stream looks doubled or depth feels wrong
Check the selected source format. For a stereo source, try swapping the eyes. Raw fisheye images require stitching before VR180 viewing.
How many people can watch?
This pilot supports up to eight viewers per broadcaster. The broadcaster's upload capacity can limit quality before that cap is reached.
Does VRCaster record my broadcast?
The current pilot does not record video. Camera and microphone media are sent to connected viewers while you broadcast.
